If you suffer from acne, then you may be interested in knowing how to make your own homemade acne treatment. This because homemade remedies are natural, inexpensive and do not have the potentially harmful side effects that some medications have.

Now let’s take a look at some of the most common homemade acne treatments that are made from the ingredients which may find in almost every kitchen.

Water
Water is one of the most common homemade treatments for acne scars. Water is an essential nutrient for our body and skin health. It helps clean the toxins, create new skin cells and maintain the elasticity of the skin. For adult person, it is recommended to drink at least 80 ounces of filtered water every day to keep a fresh and healthy skin.

Baking Soda
You probably do not realize that baking soda is used in some cosmetic microdermabrasion treatments and other products. Mix one teaspoon of baking soda with two teaspoons of filtered water and gently massage the paste onto the acne scars for thirty seconds to one minute and then rinse off immediately.

Cucumber
Many people know that cucumber is great for skin. It has same pH to the skin so they help restore the skin’s protective and natural acid mantle. It also can be used to fight and prevent acne.

Make a cucumber paste, apply it on your face and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Unlike lemon juice, cucumber doesn’t dry your face, it moisturize your skin. Use cucumber mask twice a week and you will see a significant increase in your skin condition.

Yogurt
Yogurt is very effective for treating acne because it contains many vitamins and minerals which play an important role in healing our skin and creating a strong immune system.

There are a number of ways of using yogurt for treating acne. You can either consume it orally or make it as facial mask to reduce acne.

To get start, take 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 1 tablespoon of comfrey leaf, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of cosmetic clay (kaolin clay). Now, make a paste, grind comfrey leaves into a fine powder. Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl forming a paste. Set aside and wash your face with cleanser. Now apply the paste on your face. Leave it on your face for about 15-20 minutes. After about 15 minutes, take a washcloth, soaked in warm water and clean it.

Olive Oil
Acne scars can cause the skin loses its flexibility and elasticity. Olive oil contains nutrients which help moisturize and soften your skin.

Mix 3 tablespoons olive oil with 4 tablespoons salt. Apply the mixture around your face. Leave it on for one or two minutes, then rinse it off with warm water. Do it every day for a week, then cut back to two or three times a week. You’ll see an improvement in your skin condition.

Tomatoes
Tomatoes are a common vegetable that almost all of us have it at home. Cut fresh tomatoes in small pieces and put it on the scars area. Leave it for a few minutes and then remove it. Repeat twice a day for several days and acne scars will be reduced.

Honey and Cinnamon Powder
These are quite common and effective home remedies for acne. Honey has many ingredients which can treat acne scars and improve our skin texture. For better result, mix honey with some cinnamon powder and apply the mixture onto the acne skin before you go to bed. During the night your skin will slowly absorb the mixture and reduce acne spots. In the morning, rinse the mixture from your skin and repeat the procedure for 10-14 days.

Aloe Vera
Aloe vera gel can be easily applied and generally has healing effect on the skin. It has been proven to help reduce acne redness, scarring, and swelling.
Pick aloe vera leaves and squeeze the gel from the leaves into a clean jar. It can be stored in a cool, or dry place for a couple of days. Apply the gel directly on pimples or problem areas on a daily basis. You should see results within few days of the first treatment.

Lemon Juice
Among the homemade acne treatments, lemon juice holds one preferred position serving as everything from a treatment for sore throat to a topical acne medication.

Lemon can be used when we have dark acne scars that are visually even more unattractive. Cleanse your skin using fresh water cotton ball and dip it in lemon juice. Gently apply the juice on the acne scars and leave it for 10 minutes, then clean it off with water. You should be aware that by using lemon juice may make your skin becomes more sensitive to sunlight, so you should avoid excessive exposure to sunlight.

Oatmeal
Another food that used as a home acne treatment is oatmeal. This morning cereal has the consistency of glue which works well as a mask. The Oatmeal Mask will help you to clean your face in a gentle way. Your skin will remain fresh and smooth.

Mix 3/4 cup of oatmeal with 1 cup of water in a pot. Cook the mixture for 1 to 2 minutes, and then allow it to cool. Apply the cool oatmeal mixture over your face for 10 to 20 minutes. And then rinse your face with warm water.

These homemade acne treatments may take a little more time to work. We suggest you to choose one or two acne remedies to try at home. Use it for at least several days, preferably a week. Some of the homemade acne treatments above may need several weeks to see results. The key to success is consistency, so do it everyday!
